The COVID 19 pandemic and associated public health measures have disrupted the lives of people and normal routine around world. Our study aims to COVID-19 pandemic on the psychological impact of the college going students of Central India. The study is based on data collected from the college going students. Majority of respondents were normal however significant number of people were suffering from different levels of stress, anxiety due to the impact of COVID 19.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The COVID 19 pandemic and associated public health measures have disrupted the lives of people and normal routine around the world. It is already evident that the direct and indirect psychological and social effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are insidious and affect the mental health of young children and College students now and will in the future. Purpose: 1. our study aims to conduct a timely assessment of the effects of COVID-19 pandemic on the psychological impact of the college going students of Central India. 2. To raise awareness about the mental health continuum, stress, anxiety associated with mental    illness, promote help seeking behaviors and emotional well-being practices. 3. Psychological social impact of COVID 19 on mental health / health. Methodology: The study is based on data collected from the college going students with the age raging from 17-25 years. A total of 50 students. Questionnaire schedule using questions on Anxiety and Stress level questions. Results: Majority of the respondents were normal however significant number of people were suffering from different levels of stress and anxiety due to the impact of COVID 19. Most of the (71.42%) students are fear of getting infected with COVID 19, (48.57%) students feeling pessimism or hopelessness, (57.14%) students are absence of emotional response feeling num(no happiness or sadness), (45.71%) students are feeling exhausted, (42.85%) students are feeling panicky, 48.57% students are feeling sick, (54.28%) students are feeling confused unable to think clearly. Conclusion: psychological impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the mental health of the college going students were clearly seen on different levels. Respondents suffering from severely stressed and anxious were significantly evident and it is worth giving immediate attention and expert intervention. Social support is a key protective factor.
