Long Abstract
:

This paper reports a case study of "village BA" in Southeast Guizhou province, China, discussing the process and mechanism of modern basketball culture integrating into the spiritual world and daily life of ethnic minorities. In the past hundred years, with the multicultural integration, basketball has become an important means of shaping the spiritual world of the local Miao people and promoting cultural revitalization in that region in China.

Based on the field data, this paper focuses on the connection between modern sports culture and the traditional culture of ethnic minorities, and pays special attention to the shaping of the daily life and spiritual world of the local Miao people by basketball.

The study found that basketball sports took root in the minority people in southeast Guizhou province from the period of the Republic of China. After nearly a hundred years of development, it has undergone adaptive transformation and has integrated into the daily life of the local Miao people. More importantly, basketball has become one of the most lively activities in the local traditional festival - "June 6 New Eating Festival", and it is also a tool to connect tradition and modernity, sacredness and daily life. At present, with the government support, the local Miao people have transformed basketball competition into their cultural capital as their festival and cultural heritage, which has promoted the network and national identity of minority groups.

By illustrating how basketball sports is combined with ethnic culture, this paper would enhance the understanding of how modern sports culture is embedded in ethnic areas in China in the context of multicultural development to promote rural revitalization and high-quality development of ethnic areas, which would contribute to the existing literature on culture integration.
