Besides the study of the indigenous or traditional healing system, medical anthropologists now study Western Bio-Medicine (WBM) as a cultural system under globalization. The Oraons are traditionally agricultural tribes in India. They have been migrated from their mother lands to the different districts of West Bengal, including North 24 Parganas. The present study highlights the co-existence of folk medicines and WBM in the day to day health system of the community as lived in the small pockets of the urban fringe of Maslandapur, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. Due to the impacts of dominant Bengalee Hindu Culture and the developed system of communication, a kind of medical pluralism is found in the Ethno-medicinal milieu the Oraons under study. The data of the study have been conducted through the Intensive Interviews and Case Studies along with some secondary sources.
