Land has economic, political and symbolic significance which is also considered as a productive wealth, as a marker of social status and helps in sustenance of livelihood. It provides a sense of identity and rootedness and gives a sense of durability and permanence which no other asset possesses .The present study explores the close affinity between land and culture in the tribal realm which manifests and unveils the question of identity, livelihood and socio-cultural practices associated with land.
Long Abstract
:

Tribal community is closely dependent upon the land which revolves around the livelihood and belief systems. The present study explores how the tribal community weave around the land with a belief system, traditional legends and mythical norm which transcends the soil from merely a physical entity to a cultural domain. Therefore, the focus is on the influence of the ecological relations on the religious, political and other institutions also how the social structure in turn influences the conceptualisation of the ecological relations. The man and land relationship between ecology such as practices on land use in the form of various agricultural practices, rituals to appease the nature and social institutions are explored further in the paper.
