Abstract Title
:
"The teachers come to the neighborhood": ethnographic and interdisciplinary notes on generational and gender relations of Physical Educators
Short Abstract
:
Through a set of practices related to the community sports phenomenon with children, adolescents and Physical Educators, we have carried out an observant participation and a systematization of experience in which we have analyzed generational and gender relations. Regarding the methodological contributions of the anthropological field, considerations are displayed regarding the locus of enunciation and the bodies as central elements for the ethnographic descriptions and analyzes carried out.
Long Abstract
:

This presentation is part of the systematization of the experiences carried out from the Espacio de Formación Integral Prácticas Corporales en clave de Integralidad del Centro Universitario Regional Noreste, Universidad de la República, Uruguay. It seeks to provide an analysis of university territorial practices in relation to sports carried out with children and adolescents from popular groups and Physical Educators in the Mandubí neighborhood, Rivera, Uruguay.

As the articulating axis for the analysis, the systematization takes a critical look at the inequities based on generationality and gender relations in the aforementioned context. The systematization of experience and the observant participation have been adopted as the methodological approaches to reflect on the activities with a university extension character.

Regarding the critical interpretation of the university practices, we have selected some events that have marked the shared experiences between university actors (teachers, graduates and undergraduate students) and other social actors involved, such as children and adolescents. In particular, we highlight the following topics of analysis: “'The teachers' arrive 'in the neighborhood': the critical interpretation of the experiences”, “'The girls with the girls and the boys with the boys': gender relations and sports practices”; “‘You are a fagot!’: gender expressions manifested by a child”; “Girls tripping and men's injuries” and “Generation, game and sport”. These refer to the analysis carried out within the framework of the systematization that has contributed significantly to a reflection of the participants regarding the conditions of access to sports practices and to propose alternatives for their transformation.

Regarding the methodological contributions of the anthropological field, considerations are displayed regarding the locus of enunciation and the bodies as central elements for the ethnographic descriptions and analyzes carried out.
