Abstract Title
:
Pandemic: A Cloaked Disaster
Short Abstract
:
The drastic, widespread, and deep effects of the covid-19 pandemic have nearly brought the global economy to its knees, placing all previous development efforts at stake. The pandemic has disrupted businesses, caused job losses, and impacted household livelihoods, resulting in increased poverty—with the poor and vulnerable bearing the brunt of the burden. Furthermore, the resulting illness has overwhelmed health systems and social security system, with the burden falling mainly on the Indian economy.
Long Abstract
:

The COVID-19 pandemic caused widespread illness and death as well as substantial disruptions in social and economic life, having a profound influence on the entire world. The pandemic has also drawn attention to social injustices and systemic problems in healthcare, as well as the significance of being prepared for future pandemics around the world. The pandemic has had a significant impact on India, where there were a significant cases and fatalities. Lockdowns, the suspension of foreign flights, the closing of schools, and the closure of non-essential enterprises are just a few of the measures the government has put in place to try and stop the virus's spread. In an effort to defend the populace from the virus, the government also started a vaccine campaign. The pandemic in India has brought out the best and worst in people. During this difficult time, some people have gone above and beyond to help others, donating their time and resources to those in need. However, the pandemic has also caused some people to behave negatively. One such example is the hoarding and price gouging of necessities like masks, oxygen cylinders and hand sanitizer. Some people have been accused of stockpiling these items and selling them at exorbitant prices during the pandemic, taking advantage of the high demand for them. There have also been reports of discrimination and stigmatisation of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 or are thought to be more vulnerable to the virus.

Even with the overflowing negativity the people and the government tried their level best to contain the virus and merging their lives in the ‘new normal’. The paper will discuss the proactive role played by – centre, provincial governments and the people themselves to overcome the fear of pandemic and coming back stronger in the mainstream life.
