Abstract Title
:
Flooding and Migration in Bihar: A Focus on the Kosi Region as a Case Study
Short Abstract
:
Flooding in Kosi, Bihar, compels migration. Kosi has landlordism and caste prejudice. The study paper will focus on how floods and other disasters affect migrant groups at the destination since they are generally marginalized and don't receive government relief. The disaster's impact is assessed using secondary sources on Bihar's socio-economic parameters. This study explores migration and disasters utilizing socio-economic and environmental elements to urge government attention and policymaking.
Long Abstract
:

This study aims to provide information on the dynamics of forced migration caused by frequent flooding in the state of Bihar, particularly in the Kosi region.  This particular state was selected for the investigation because of the magnitude of the annual flood disaster as well as the region's pervasive and repressive social interactions. Land tyranny and discrimination towards lower caste members were historically very common in the Kosi region. One of the most important goals of the research paper will be to explain how floods and other types of natural disasters influence migrant groups at the destination place. This is because migrant communities are typically marginalized and do not receive aid from the government or other organizations during times of crisis. In this scenario, an attempt is made to investigate the effects of the tragedy by making use of secondary sources to conduct research on socioeconomic variables that are pertinent to the context of Bihar. It is crucial to gain an understanding of the phenomenon of forced migration to other bordering states caused by environmental degradation or natural disasters. This is one of the most critical concerns that will grow in prominence over the next few years, and the world is now unprepared to cope with it. Therefore, gaining an understanding of this phenomenon is essential. This study aims to stimulate state attention and policymaking in the domain of migration and disaster concerns by analyzing the connection between migration and disaster issues with a particular emphasis on socio-economic and environmental factors.
