Four topics will be discussed:
1) caste characteristics of ethnic groups of the ancient southwest China's Sanxingdui Site; 2)rich accumulation of research data on the hierarchical caste structure of Yi nationality since the Yuan Dynasty; especially on the colder (jit zip) caste structure with warmer clan ( cyt vi ) system; 3) comparing the caste characteristics of the Yi with similar societies around the World: India (Salonika Berreman R Guha P Chatterjee, GC Spivak;D Chakrabarty, K Visweswaran, H Bhabha, Vinay Lal Jahanbegloo,Dumont N Dirks, M N Srinivas, and Veena Das); Yengde on the caste matters (Dalit panthers; Dalit-chetna; Ambedkar writings); race matters ( C West B Washington and du bois); African Hutu and Tutsi ethnic groups; caste theories in China;the bifurcated /linear and the repressed history (Foucault W Benjamin, E Geller B Anderson Thompson Hobsbawn Gramsci);4)hierarchies/exclusion;new challenges for the 21st century; pursuit of affirmative policy in a society with deep root of hierarchical structure: narrowing the gap between poor and wealth; best projects for common prosperity in education sector;new policy in facing old rigid gender/class/caste issues: with rigorous curriculum; with her outstanding gender/ethnic/equality policy.
