Long Abstract
:

As a “representative space”, rituals symbolize “place” and “nationalemotions, showing the phenomenon of “cultural intimacy” associated with “cultural embarrassment”. In the process of the construction of the Obo sacrificial ritual space in H town, the game after the construction and the incorporation of the present ritual into the national discourse of cultural development, “cultural intimacy” presents a process of occurrence-distinction-aggregation, showing the coexistence of cohesion and competition, bewilderment and stability due to historical traditions, ethnic cognition and social distinction, national cultural integration. With competition and instability, various ethnic groups have produced “cultural embarrassment”. In the course of cohesion and stability, the embarrassment is neutralized and a harmonious “cultural intimacy” is formed. The integrated “cultural intimacy” is a condition for developing national identity and the “sense of place identification” established in cultural intimacy that is of great significance and experience in forging the sense of community of the Chinese nation. First, the “cultural intimacy” of Western ethnic groups is different from China's, and China's “cultural intimacy” is more characteristic of transcending ethnic identities and cultural boundaries, and is a kind of “cultural intimacy” in which the emotions of the country, localities and ethnic groups are integrated. Second, the integrated “cultural intimacy” is born in the “place”, which is shown as the mutual identity and national identity among the local ethnic groups and based on the belongingness and imagination of the “place”. Third, China is a multi-ethnic country. The integrated “cultural intimacy”, expressed through cultural media and emotions, not only guarantees the diverse multi-ethnic tradition and culture but also realizes the process of political integration, which helps to build a more universal national identity in contemporary China.
