In the presented research paper, personal study of three doctors/ Vaidyas of Kolam villages of Maregaon tehsil of Yavatmal district has been prepared on the basis of details of 15 patients (who have been treated by Vaidya). In the article mainly the details of medicines related to 20 such diseases have been given which are used by Vaidyas.

Kolam tribes live mainly in Yavatmal, Chandrapur and Nanded districts of Maharashtra. There are mainly three &#39;Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups&#39; in Maharashtra, named Katkari, Kolam and Maria Gond with total population of 20, 98,095 in 2011. Out of which, the population of Kolam tribe was 1,73,646 in 2001, which has increased to 1,94,671 in 2011. Their language is Kolami, which is a language of Dravidian family. They are an agricultural community.</p> <p>Presented research paper is mainly based on the study of traditional knowledge of medical system among Kolam tribe in Yavatmal district of Maharashtra. A detailed study has been made of the medicines used by the Kolam tribe during the treatment of various diseases, the method of preparation of medicines and the methods of their use. The Kolam tribe has a rich medical system and they have been practicing the treatment for decades.</p> <p>In the presented research paper, personal study of three doctors/ Vaidyas of Kolam villages of Maregaon tehsil of Yavatmal district has been prepared on the basis of details of 15 patients (who have been treated by Vaidya). In the article mainly the details of medicines related to 20 such diseases have been given which are used by Vaidyas.</p> <p>The fieldwork for the present research paper has been carried out for a project funded by the Tribal Research and Training Institute, Pune, in the anthropology department of Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha.</p>
