Long Abstract
:

During the COVID-19 pandemic, social inequalities in Jalisco, Mexico were exposed. The pandemic has disproportionately affected vulnerable groups such as migrants, informal workers, indigenous peoples, and low-income individuals. These groups face barriers to accessing healthcare services and financial support, as well as challenges in protecting themselves from the virus during the pandemic.

In the workplace, many informal workers cannot afford to stay home and are forced to continue working in conditions with high exposure to the virus. Additionally, many migrants lack access to adequate medical care, often facing linguistic and cultural barriers that prevent them from receiving clear and accurate information about the COVID-19 pandemic.

Indigenous peoples in Jalisco were disproportionately affected by challenges in accessing healthcare, housing, clean water, and food due to historical and structural discrimination against them in Mexico.

Furthermore, the pandemic has exacerbated economic inequality in Jalisco, leaving many low-income individuals without financial support and access to services during the pandemic. The lack of economic resources has also increased food insecurity in the state.

To address these inequalities, specific measures must be taken to ensure that vulnerable groups are protected and have access to services and financial support during crises such as the pandemic. It is also essential to address the structural causes of discrimination and inequality in the state to achieve a more just and equitable society in future crises.
