A Nomadic community, the Rebari, is mainly a nomadic and camel and sheep rearing community, oral narratives trace their origin from Kutch of Gujarat and Pali of Rajasthan. Male members are involved in rearing of sheep and deals with the business. But women involves in multifaceted responsibilities migration from place to place and directing the whole move. Their adornment signifies their empowerment and the role and status in the society. And women are the main decision makers in the community.
The present study is the visual representation of women in the Rebari community. Their dress pattern and the activities they do in their day to day life. The photographic methodologies envisage the ethnographic study of embodiment and the empowerment of women in the nomadic community.
Visual representation is always an easiest way to convey the findings of a research work. Photographs are the main tool used in the present study to collect data.
The present study has been conducted in the two different states namely, Maharashtra and Kutch region of Gujarat. And photographic evidences have been collected time to time during field work to substantiate ethnographic data.
