This study aims to investigate the experiences of single Nepali mothers residing in the Delhi NCR region and map the load of professional and care work done by them during Covid 19, explore how it made their community resilient, as well as explore their mental health at the time by using in-depth interviews. The proposed study can inform recommendations for policies and programs to provide them with aftercare or a stronger safety net.
Long Abstract
:

This proposal aims to investigate the experiences of single Nepali mothers residing in the Delhi NCR region. The study has several objectives, including mapping the load of professional and care work done by single Nepali mothers during Covid 19 pandemic, exploring their mental health at the time, investigating their coping mechanisms and how the crisis made the community resilient. The research will also explore unique job opportunities pursued by Nepali mothers in Delhi NCR to cope with the pandemic and the educational and employment outcomes of their children. The study will utilise in-depth interviews to answer these questions. The proposed research seeks to fill a significant gap in the literature and provide insight into the experiences and needs of this marginalised group, which can inform recommendations for policies and programs  to provide them with aftercare or a stronger safety net.
