Abstract Title
:
Visual-anthropological representation of anthropology of sport in the Czech Republic - demise or development?
Short Abstract
:
The paper will focus on the issue of visual anthropological analyses of sport in our research. The main aim of the paper is to present our long-term research on lacrosse and the difficulties encountered in our research. We will point out the institutionally set limits of representing sport anthropology research in audio-visual form in the Czech Republic. These appear to be significantly at odds with the current trends of the digital age.
Long Abstract
:

The paper will focus on the issue of visual anthropological treatment of sport in our research. The main aim of the paper is to present our long-term research on lacrosse and the difficulties encountered in our research. In particular, visual anthropological production related to our three bilingual films - Lacrosse - It's a Way of Life/Lakros - To je zpusob života (2014), Global Lacrosse Village/Globální lakrosová vesnice (2015) and On the Shore/Na brehu (2022) - will be emphasized. We will point out the institutionally set limits of representing sport anthropology research in audio-visual form in the Czech Republic. These limits are very much at odds with the current trends of the digital age, in which the image is the dominant medium. Because of them, the production of knowledge in the Czech Republic is still predominantly logocentric. In this paper we will outline why the audio-visual form is in many ways more suitable than the textual form for the presentation of sport research. We will also discuss whether the promotion of non-textual forms of sport research can contribute to the development of the anthropology of sport as such. We will discuss whether and under what conditions it will be possible to develop the anthropology of sport and its audiovisual-anthropological form in the Czech Republic or not.
