Co-existence of Humans and Flora-Fauna in Maithili Folk Ecocosmology.
Short Abstract
:
In folk orality and lifestyle, folk cosmologies have embodied the associations between nature and humans which are based on co-existence of values with brotherhood attitudes. The folk wisdom and worldview were marginalized and not taken seriously by modern science and not being recognized and it’s understand on the Nature-Human-Spirit complex. Folk ecocosmology is embedded in cultural orality and performativity in day-to-day life . This study aims to focus on the cosmological beliefs’ order of folk people of Mithila as well as to understand its relationship with their local environment and religious and cultural activities.
Long Abstract
:

In the folk narrative, the consciousness of intrinsic values, beliefs and visions is constructed by ecocosmology. The folk cosmology and knowledge establish themselves as relics of the environmental consciousness that is sorely neglected these times in terms of environmental screams coming from all around the world. The folk knowledge was dismissed by modern and western worldview. The question of humans' existence and nature's integrity in folk life depends upon ways in which people observe and experience themselves by folk cosmos . The changing values, beliefs, and attitudes of humans toward nature in western philosophy are important factors for the environmental crises.

At present, folk models of sustaining life are being tried across the globe, which gives priority to local ecosystems and environment and dedicated to coexistence with nature. In the Maithili folk cosmology is an expression of existence inculcating the collective consciousness, folk beliefs of symbiotic relationships between other creatures, and the non-dualistic worldview (adverse from the Cartesian worldview) between humans and nature.

The paper explores the relationship between cultural practices, beliefs and myths of the folk people of Mithila about the universe and its surrounding ecosystem. In this study the main objective, is that how Maithili people’s cosmology influence on the conservation and management of natural resources. Data will be collected through focused group discussions, interviews, and case study methods. By this work, I want to understand folk hermeneutics, folk beliefs of the universe, and how they secure a sustainable development.
