Short Abstract
:
Despite being the second largest Schedule Tribe in the state of Assam, the Misings have gotten active in an autonomy movement, with the tribe's student and youth organization playing a prominent role. The purpose of this study is to investigate and gain a better understanding of the role played by the Mising Student Union in the progression towards greater autonomy on the part of the tribe.
Long Abstract
:

<p>The youth of society are playing a significant role in the process of societal transformation. Youth engagement in social transformation and sustainable development is a crucial element for achieving a more just and equitable society. The purpose of this paper is to gain an understanding of how the Takam Mising Porin Kebang the Mising Student and Youth Organization which was established in 1972 &nbsp;is playing an important part in the social transformation of the Mising society through their powerful youth activism, which resulted in the establishment of the Mising Autonomous Council in 1995 and their ongoing struggle for autonomy through Six Schedule of the Indian Constitution. Qualitative methods has been adopted for the purpose of the study. The study will explore the experiences and perspectives of Mising youth activists, their strategies for the transformation of Mising society and the challenges they face in pursuing their goals.
